Day 4: The Prize Giving Day

It has been four days of the Funke Treasure Table Tennis Championship, the first for the girl-child through the game of table tennis, all participating girls are getting rewarded today, our goodies are ready and the clock is ticking.

Day 3: Ongoing Funke Treasure Table Tennis Championship Live in Ibadan City, Nigeria

It’s still the third day of the tournament at the Indoor Sports Hall, Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan. The competition has been intense all day. This is the moment when some of the girls hit the red carpet with the Initiator to celebrate their win.

Day 2: The F3TC Coaching Clinic

The F3TC Coaching Clinic is the developmental part of the Championship, where participants learn the basic rules about the game of Table Tennis and are mentored on how to play the game. About fifteen National and State Table Tennis players were coaches to the girls, including celebrated former National player, Mama Sola Abiodun.

The Exhibition Match at the Opening Ceremony

The exhibition was one of the major highlights at the F3Tc Opening Ceremony. It was preceded by the address of the F3TC’s Consultant Coach, Ms. Bose Kaffo. She talked about Table Tennis in Nigeria, the thrills and the gloom, the dominance of Egypt in Africa’s Table Tennis Championships and her experience as a young girl starting out early in the game of Table Tennis.

The Empowerment Session at the F3TC Opening Ceremony

One of the focal points of the Funke Treasure Table Tennis Championship (F3TC) is the integration of empowerment sessions  on finances, drug abuse & doping; reproductive health and confidence building. These sessions have been incorporated for the emotional, physical and psychological development of the participating girls.

Mr. Anthony Osae Brown, the Financial Editor, BusinessDay Newspaper was the first empowerment speaker at the F3TC. He spoke on financial literacy to 33 girls drawn from public schools and low income families in Ibadan, Oyo State.

F3TC Day 1: The Championship is Live in Ibadan!

It was a rainy morning in Ibadan, it poured almost endlessly leading to a delay of the opening ceremony. However, the participating schools arrived with their girls and registration commenced. The guests trickled in and soon the Indoor Sports Hall of the Adamasingba Stadium filled up with stakeholders in the Oyo State Sport Sector. It was a colourful event and there was palpable excitement in the air, history was being made.
